OO like a spOOn

Have you ever taught digraphs, either that spell consonants or vowel sounds, with plates and spoons? The day has come eventually!  oo like a spoon !! Write several words that contain the digraph oo and several others without it on a paper plate. Then write on a transparent spoon the digraph oo and try to spot the words that contain it as well by placing the spoon on them. Pink spoon!   Have fun !! Good Luck, Maria P.

Letter cutlery

Are you ready for an extraordinary picnic?? Then set the table with an unusual tablecloth full of  CVC and CVVC words missing the first letter and use plastic cutlery which will have all the consonants and vowels of the alphabet. Letter Cutlery Then mix and match all the spoons, knives and forks in order to present as many different words as possible while trying to decode and blend sounds. CVC word list Spoon for the phonics soup !! In this way phonics teaching will introduce children to CVC words. First children will start to learn the letter sounds, then they will start to blend sounds to real words and later on they will move up to a stage where they will be able to combine different consonants with the same CVC word pattern in order to create different words thus expanding their vocabulary. Puzzle Time

This amusing activity will help students test their knowledge in simple past irregular verbs. Puzzle Time On each puzzle piece you can write the present form of a verb and you can match it with each irregular form writen on the back of the puzzle. During the first stage you can reveal the answers gradually. During the second stage you can ask students to match the forms by themselves thus completing the puzzle successfully. Storytelling dice

This two-stage activity aims at boosting your students' brainstorming writing strategies. Storytelling Dice First of all, you are going to need some wooden craft cubes and a wide variety of stickers that you find helpful for every essay topic you will choose. Wooden craft cubes Your stickers You can create cubes with different characters, names, feelings, physical appearance, presents, situations, favorite school subjects, hobbies, clothes, favorite food, etc. During the first stage, students should roll the dice, and try to represent the stickers and express them on pantomime through gestures and bodily actions. Let's dramatize a classical literary fairy tale by the Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen!! The ugly duckling You may use handmade craft stick-puppets in order to act out the tale and help your students enrich their vocabulary on adjectives. You may even use this activity to teach the comparative and superlative form relatively to each stage of the tale. Young and Ugly! Snow white teaches us new vocabulary

Puppets in English Teaching.. Our Snow white hates apples!! Use Snow white and the dwarfs in order to teach new vocabulary and adjectives in a recreational way. Puppets can be used as an effective teaching aid which can facilitate the learning process.
